Summer, 2009, Altus, Arkansas
 If you are travelling to Northwest Arkansas, put Post Familie Winery on your itinerary. The drive alone is just beautiful! Roadside wildflowers and local produce vendors abound. A stop at historic St. Mary's Catholic Church on St. Mary's Mountain is a cool respite from the summer heat.Record-setting rainfall in May set the stage for heavy fruit in the vineyards this summer. The cooler, wetter spring slowed bloom times, but the abundant June sunshine has plumped these berries into sweet grapes!
July and August are the main harvest months for our varietals. The muscadine grapes ripen later, mid-September. Our busy crew will be picking grapes, crushing grapes and pumping juice! The gleaming stainless steel tanks will slowly be filled with 2009 vintages, so a winery tour is a real must.
The weekend of July 24th and 25th is the annual Altus Grapefest in the Altus City Park. Fresh grapes, amateur winemakers competition, wine tastings and arts & crafts are just some of the highlights. Live music and great food round out the weekend. Come celebrate with us!

Our Altus wine store carries our wines, juices and some great home and gift items. You can buy native muscadine grape plants here for your own garden arbor. We're open daily for tours and tastings, so come on by this summer, eat the grapes, taste the wine and "Toast with Post"!
